27 June 2008
Specialist family law firm Tony Roe Solicitors presented an inaugural prize at the University of Reading on 26 June 2008.
Tony Roe, principal of the firm, presented the new Tony Roe Solicitors Family Law Prize to final year law student Jessy Makdessi. Tony Roe has long established links with the School and has supported the family law course by giving talks to the students on family law in practice.
Dr Thérèse Callus, module convenor for Family Law says, "'The School of Law at the University of Reading is delighted to announce new sponsorship of a Family Law prize generously offered by local firm, Tony Roe Solicitors.
We place great importance on our links with practitioners and the interactive session which Tony Roe runs is of great benefit to our students. Family law, and particularly family finances, is a complex area, brought to life by practitioners in the field. We are very pleased and privileged to be able to offer this prize to our best student and we hope that future students will be encouraged by this support".
Tony Roe said, “Building links between local business and the university is so good for the town. I have learnt a lot working with the academics at the University and been impressed by the commitment and hard work of the students.”
