I am the principal divorce & family law solicitor of the practice.

In public

I am a regular contributor to local and national media, and have written for The Times and Financial Times on a number of occasions. In the independently researched Legal 500, 2006 edition, I was described as "conscientious and keen to obtain the best outcome for his clients without losing sight of the pragmatic solution".

The Chambers 2008 Directory, again independently researched, says that my clients find me "easy to deal with". I have also been named in the Legal Business Report, "Legal Experts 2008".

In work

My straightforward approach is reflected in the efforts made to ensure clients understand the complete picture in terms of the procedure and the cost, and know what to expect.

With clients ranging from those in the UK to overseas, I regularly advise on complex financial disputes, international children matters, cross-jurisdictional divorce and collaborative law ancillary relief.

Industry associations

Memberships include Resolution (formerly the Solicitors' Family Law Association), where I sit on the National Committee and chaired its Children Committee for two years. Resolution believes in using an approach which is sensitive, constructive, cost-effective and most likely to result in an agreement. We follow the Resolution Code of Practice which is sent to all clients.

In the past

Graduating from the University of Keele and qualifying in 1990, I spent several years at a progressive commercial practice in Leeds before joining a specialist private client firm in London. I joined Boyes Turner as a Partner in 1998 and headed its Family Law Group for almost 10 years.

In my spare time

I was born in Yorkshire and love the great outdoors. I spend much of my spare time on outdoor pursuits including walking and cycling.
